Batfigs

ThePenguin has made a great number of custom figs, often from all iterations of the Batman universe. One of his most recent turned the Hulk fig into this awesome Bane:

I love how he doesn't just take on all of the obvious characters, but delves deep into the Batman world to include relatively minor figures like crooked cop Arnold Flass:

Joker

DC and Marvel figs

Stark Expo

It seems that Lego-Merc is the force behind Stark Enterprises.

Believe it or not ...

Shmails made a great custom of the Greatest American Hero. "Hey!" you shout at me, "that's a TV show!" You can even watch it on Hulu. Apparently William Katt, star of the 80's series, launched Catastrophic Comics, a company that released a limited series based on the TV show. You can see a preview on that site, but I have no idea if it lasted past its initial release in 2008.

Up, up and away!

Josh LaFollette has made a great number of custom decals. Simply print them out and stick them on torsos and you'll have a various heroes, like Firestorm, the Martian Manhunter or the Red Tornado.



Garett Waters used Josh's Superman design to make Up, up and away! I do wish more people would actually use their custom figs in scenes. IMO, too often people make these awesome figures, but then never do anything with them aside from the initial photo.

Creations for Charity

Creations for Charity is a chance for you to buy the creations of other LEGO builders, and all of the proceeds go to buy LEGO for Toys for Tots. Julian Fong is donating a number of great customized minifigures including Wonder Woman, Deadshot, and Zatanna. These figs were made using waterslide decals as well as some painting, cutting and gluing, and acrylic.

Custom figs

The Superman fig in yesterday's post was never produced by LEGO. Instead it is a customized fig. Many AFOLs modify existing minifigs with paint, decals, Sculpy and other techniques to create the characters they desire. One of my favorite customizers is Norbert Black, who has made a great number of figs, including many comic book characters. He's got a great essay on how to go about creating these.
