Big Ivy

Someone (who?) made a series of great maxi-figs that they brought to Brickworld 2009. Here's Poison Ivy.

No sleep tonight

My little boy likes Spider-Man cartoons, and so when he saw a commercial for the movie he was excited, but I think if we went he'd end up like the kid in 74louloute's scene.

More from Comic-Con

Oh, just a bit more from Comic-Con, the LEGO booth featured an interactive mosaic where attendees added pieces throughout the day, resulting in a Super Heroes image:

There was also a free build mosaic wall. Given the setting, it's unsurprising that several of the additions were comic-themed.
The LEGO booth also featured some works we'd seen before at last year's NYC Comic-Con, the Hulk and Superman/Batman/Wonder Woman sculptures:

Sawaya at (well, near) Comic-Con

In conjunction with Comic-Con, DC sponsored an art show in the Gas Lamp district of San Diego with the theme "Darkness & Light: Art Inspired by Heroes & Villains, Hope & Heroism". This was to raise money for Save the Children, International Rescue Committee and Mercy Corps. Nathan Sawaya was among the featured artists. I assume that these are his work, though the article I found did not give specific attributions to the different artists.

I found some more pics. The Superman and Green Lantern are definitely Nathan Sawaya - He made those last year and I featured them here.

Action figures

MortalSwordsman made a series of great action figures. My favorites are the Silver Surfer, Punisher and Nightwing.

Clown Prince

Andrew Lee put the head from the buildable-fig Joker set to much better use for his own version of the Clown Prince.

X-Men

John Fink's figures also include several characters from various titles associated with the X-Men.

Avengers assemble

John Fink came up with a great framework for figures that he can modify to make virtually any recognizable character, like these various Avengers. I hope someday soon he builds these in the brick.
